Grants of up to $250,000 are available for small and medium sized manufacturers in Victoria through the Made in Victoria – Manufacturing Growth Program.
The program is one of many initiatives to support advanced manufacturing. Businesses will need to apply for the grants which will be allocated to those that have plans to introduce new technologies, expand operations, and improve their productivity and capabilities.
Last year, the Business Competitiveness Program awarded over $10 million to 29 projects, resulting in the creation of over 550 new jobs throughout the state.
Waste Converters Recycling and Dentalife Australia benefited from the program, with Waste Converters Recycling introducing new robotics lines and Dentalife Australia bringing back its manufacturing of hospital-grade disinfectant wipes.
Manufacturing is a crucial driver of Victoria’s economy, with over 260,000 individuals employed in the sector and contributing around $31 billion annually to the state’s economy.
The Victorian Government has a variety of initiatives in place to support advanced manufacturing, including the $20 million Australian Medtech Manufacturing Centre, the $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund, the $4.5 million Digital Jobs for Manufacturing program, and the Low Carbon Manufacturing Grants program.
