In an effort to support Victorians as they recover from the effects of the pandemic, Jobs Victoria Fund is providing $250 million in wage subsidies to Victorian businesses that are employing new staff.
Employers are encouraged to employ those who have been most affected by the pandemic – priority jobseekers. If your business has employed someone in Victoria after the 16th of March who was unemployed or underemployed (working less than 16 hours per fortnight casually) at the time they commenced, you could be eligible for the subsidy.
Priority jobseekers are:
- Those aged over 45 years
- Veterans
- Young people aged under 25
- People with disability
- Asylum seekers or refugees
- People previously employed under the Working for Victoria Initiative
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
- Jobseekers registered with a Jobs Victoria Partner
You must employ someone who is a priority jobseeker before applying for the wage subsidy. The new employee must be employed into a full-time role, or part-time role with a minimum of 19 hours, for a minimum of 12 months. The role must pay less than $120,000 plus superannuation. Businesses can apply for a wage subsidy for up to 20 full-time equivalent employees.
At Fuse Recruitment, we are offering our services to assist Victorian businesses who are interested in employing priority jobseekers into their business. Our consultants will make it easier for you by sourcing priority jobseekers who are suitable for your business’s needs.
