We are proud to announce Daniel Karmazin as the new Team Leader in Insurance and Wealth Management. He began his recruitment career in 2016 and has since built a strong track record of helping people secure their dream jobs. 

 

Exploring the World of Insurance 

Daniel began his recruitment career in Surveying and Engineering before progressing into a higher leadership role. About five years ago, while working for his previous employer, he was offered an internal opportunity to manage the Banking and Insurance team.  

Without knowing much— or as he puts it, “nothing to be precise!”—about the industries, since he had primarily worked in travel, he thought, “Sure, how hard can it be?”  

Safe to say, it wasn’t long before he realised just how broad and intricate the insurance industry actually is. The role involved sales business development and providing expertise in insurance recruitment. Over those past five years, he has managed teams in Banking, Insurance, Accountancy & Finance, and Contact Centres. One of his major achievements during this period was setting an all-time record in Banking and Insurance. Daniel has come a long way since then, but one motto he sticks to is, “No day is ever the same, and there’s always something new to learn!” 

 

Challenges in Recruitment and What to Expect 

Initially, Daniel wanted to get into recruitment to challenge himself in a competitive sales environment. 

During his tenure as a recruitment consultant, Daniel discovered that recruitment involves much more than just wearing a sharp suit and carrying a leather compendium. He values the interactions he has with both clients and candidates, as well as the collaborative spirit within the team. Contrary to the often-cited “dog-eat-dog” image reminiscent of the “Wolf of Wall Street,” Daniel finds great satisfaction in the teamwork and camaraderie that recruitment offers. He eagerly anticipates the successes that can be achieved together.  

Daniel does not find any particular project challenging, but he acknowledges that the insurance industry is highly technical. He looks forward to engaging with industry experts and attending industry events to remain ahead of the curve. For newcomers, he advises that advancing in the insurance industry as a recruiter requires being inquisitive and regularly talking to industry experts to stay abreast of trends and changes. 

The recruitment landscape is constantly evolving. While artificial intelligence plays a significant role, the post-COVID world has also transformed traditional practices. For this reason, Daniel advises recruiters to adapt to these changes and embrace technology. He emphasises the importance of valuing the art of advertising and consulting, as these skills will continue to be valuable to both clients and candidates.
