Meet and greet our CEO, Tyson McNeilly! Tyson talks about the most recent TV shows he’s watched and gives us a bit of advice about hard work and resilience.

What was the best holiday you ever took and why?
Croatian coast cruise with a stop in Santorini. Growing up I thought the whole of Europe was England (lol) so had no idea how stunningly beautiful the coasts of Croatia and Islands of Greece were.
What is your “Death Row Meal”?
Upsized KFC Zinger box with a Zinger Bacon & Cheese and Wicked Wings.
What was the last show you binge-watched?
Game of Thrones and yes I was massively late to the party. At the moment I am right into ‘Start Up’ on Netflix with a random sprinkling of ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ on Stan.
What is the best career advice you have ever heard?
Smooth seas never made a skilled sailor.
What do you remember most about your first job?
The most vivid memory is working at the local lettuce farm when I was in primary school. I used to get up at 4.30 am to get in a couple of hours’ work before school. $1.50/hr cash in one of those tiny yellow envelopes at the end of the week made me the richest kid in the tuckshop line.
What advice do you have for someone new to the industry?
There is no substitute for effort and activity in recruitment. If you are not making mistakes you are not trying hard enough.
How do you deal with work stress?
I think COVID has been a great reminder of the little things in life that are most often taken for granted. Relativity has always been important to me and these days I use it to keep calm. How lucky are we really?!
