A Career Built on Foundation and Growth 

Mike’s professional journey began in 2010 within the warehousing and logistics sector. His transition into manufacturing marked a significant learning and growth phase. He shares, “I started my career in warehousing and logistics in 2010, moving into manufacturing from there and have been in the industry ever since.” 

Mike’s move into recruitment stemmed from a desire to make a tangible difference, “It sounds corny, but in recruitment, you get to be a part of changing people’s lives. Helping people to secure their dream job is an awesome feeling!” he says. The shift into manufacturing recruitment allowed Mike to expand his expertise and impact within the industry. 

Throughout his career, Mike has achieved significant milestones. One of his proudest accomplishments is turning clients into national partners and providing nationwide recruitment solutions. “Working with clients on a local level and then working with my team to build the partnership to a national operation has always been a highlight throughout my years.” 

Overcoming Challenges 

Mike’s experience with a global manufacturing company stands out as a challenging yet rewarding project. He recalls, “This client had been struggling for a long time with agencies and was desperate for success. I reached out to them on New Year’s Day and proposed a HR driven business partnership approach rather than a traditional contract. This allowed for my team to be involved at all levels of the business, attend onsite meetings with their leadership team, assist in the onsite interview process and safety discussions, whilst gaining a true understanding of their business.” 

For Mike, authenticity and genuine interest are key to building and maintaining strong relationships with both clients and candidates. “Understanding clients on both a professional and personal level is essential.” For candidates, “You need to put yourself in their shoes, treat them how you would like to be treated, and always be open and honest with them. Integrity is key.” he emphasises. 

One of Mike’s most rewarding career highlights was being an integral part of growing and expanding his previous team “When I started, the team was only working with 8 contractors. Once in my role, we were able to expand our support to over 100 contactors” he recalls. “This achievement not only advanced the business but also contributed to the personal and professional development of the team.”
