Road to Resourcer: An Interns Story

One of the biggest obstacles we hear from candidates and that we experience ourselves when recruiting for our clients, is “not enough experience”.

Sometimes getting experience can be the hardest part! That’s why we offer the opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to gain hands-on, real life recruitment experience through our Fuse Recruitment Internship Program ; which is offered in our Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide offices.

One of our most recent success stories has been that of Deana Condoleon , who has completed our internship program and is now employed on a part-time basis until she graduates university and is available to join us full time! Read below to hear what Deana had to say about her time during the internship program and with Fuse!

“… I was originally approached by Aaron for an internal role here at Fuse however a full-time role did not align with my current university timetable. Nevertheless, I still sent through my resume for any future possibilities that could possibly arise. Once my resume was reviewed, Aaron saw my interest in HR related work experience /internships and recommended an internship opportunity instead. Not to long after, I met with both Aaron and Victoria for an interview and I guess you could say the rest was history.

My internship started a week before the university semester commenced. From the first day, the team instantly made me feel welcomed and that I had already been working here for a while. My duties as an intern mainly involved assisting the consultants in sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes and coordinating screenings, interviews, developing full candidate profiles and anything else to assist with their day to day process and business needs. I had previously just completed a recruiting and selecting subject at university, so it was great to get practical experience straight away and put what I have learnt to great use.

My internship transitioned into a Resourcer role as the team was quite pleased with the work I had been completing as an intern. I didn’t hesitate to accept this great opportunity partly because everyone in the office possesses qualities of a successful team. Everyone is unique and offers something different from their own experiences and knowledge. A ‘normal’ day here also doesn’t feel like a usual workday. Everyone enjoys each other’s company and works so well together – it makes the office such a relaxed environment that I feel comfortable and enjoy working in …”
